Sculptor's Comments/Job Details
"This stone was produced for fellow industry professionals to
demonstrate the type of service and level of product quality
available to customers and professional agents. High quality
hand carved floral work is exceedingly rare in the current market,
but maintains a universal appeal unaffected by religious belief or
regional trends/preferences.
"Carolina Sculpture Studio was given full discretion to design and
produce this carving on a standard granite die for Elberton's First
Annual Granite Festival. Utilizing design techniques prevalent in
late 17th century England and floral motifs traditional to the memorial
industry, an early-season perennial grouping was situated within a
bud-shaped niche. Beauty, new beginnings, the strength to endure and
the confidence of perpetuation are all represented in a concise
presentation.

"Often overlooked in novel contemporary efforts are the subtle
techniques of traditional craftsmanship. These techniques offer the
potential of a project that communicates across generations.
Obvious or subtle, these efforts cross the barriers of language &
generation. Sculpture is an exclusive product better presented by
example than simple description or pictures. This job can now be
easily customized to suit an individual's specific needs.
Maintaining such an example within a monument display lot is an
excellent method of demonstrating an exclusive level of products
and services."

The shape of this niche creates the illusion of height on
this relatively short die, simultaneously maximizing the amount
of space to the left and right of the carving. A shape-carved
flourish could be easily added to each side, possibly simulating
an overall Fleur-de-Lis motif, with names and dates displayed on
a separate base. Alternately, panels could be developed on left
and right, with approximate dimensions of 1'-0" wide x 1'-6" tall.
The versatility offered by this job makes it an ideal choice for
a dealer display of monumental and memorial offerings.
