As a traditional Granite Sculptor, my work represents my heritage. All projects are produced by commission only. All sculptures will be fully hand carved and then hand-axed (completely finished by hand with chisels) unless otherwise ordered. Lower-priced hand-carvings are typically finished with die grinders and/or sandblasting. This produces an inferior effect that differentiates the job from the concepts and examples of hand-axed original sculptural works that likely inspired the customer. Labor-intensive hand-axing smoothes tooled surfaces of the job, properly cutting the individual crystals to provide the correct color and contrast.
The niches of our bas-relief sculptures will be deep, have the correct scotia, and be properly finished to better demonstrate the carved figure(s). Proper hand axing of the entire job will make the skin look soft, the fabric flow gracefully and the background almost disappear. Full-round statuary jobs are literally inspiring. Lower priced work rarely offers this workmanship. Cheaper work is always available.
Lower priced and typically lower quality work will speak for itself long after the savings are enjoyed. As an homage and tribute, there is no better investment than the finest quality hand-carved granite sculpture. Carolina Sculpture Studio will work with you, creating a monument that will inspire others to continue the tradition of monumental and memorial sculpture. Public features demonstrate both philanthropy and patronage of the arts, fitting of your family or organization.
Subjects for sculpture in high-quality granite are nearly infinite, including:
Larger works are typically produced to satisfy philanthropic goals of a patron or patron organization. Such commissions provide durable public recognition of both financial achievement and visionary investment in the surrounding community. Public features commonly become focal points of reference. When properly coordinated, the financial benefits for the patron(s) or patron organization can be substantial. Consider the potential offered to major patrons of the arts. Pricing varies, but is based upon style of carving (bas relief, bold relief and full round), medium and subject complexity. Since most jobs are unique, pricing is as well. Contact us with any questions- large or small- and we will be glad to help explain what we do very clearly. Although it may not be considered "cheap", there are many ways to make sculpture affordable without sacrificing quality. | ||
